Our syrups are made in house

Since last summer, we have been making all syrups we use in our drinks in house. After some testing, we realized producing these in our kitchen is not only a cost effective move, but allows us to customize the taste and keep our syrups fresh.

In addition to our coffee, aiolis, baked goods, jams and sauces, we have been proud to add this as another home grown item. We love offering this to showcase our commitment to serving the best and freshest items we can to our guests.

Why do we do it?

Most syrups are a combination of a few simple ingredients and take only a few tools to put together. There’s a few key reasons to make them ourselves.

The ingredients are simple

Water, sugar and vanilla (either bean paste or extract) is all it takes. Anything that is flavored, like a fruit or nut syrup, can either take fresh ingredients or in some cases an extract.

The steps are simple too

Creating a syrup requires combining and stirring the ingredients, putting them in a pot and bringing that to medium to high heat on the stove until all the sugar is dissolved. No wizardry or involved!

Fresher taste with no preservatives

When a cafe orders syrups in a bottle, those bottles are meant to last for an extended period of time on the shelf. That keeps them fresh for a time but takes preservatives to remain stable. We strive to make syrups two to three times a week in small batches to keep the freshest taste possible.

Money savings

Because the ingredients are so simple, the cost savings is substantial. A 16.5oz bottle of syrup can start at around $7 while the ingredients and labor for an equivalent size can run about $3-4 to make. Every dollar in savings goes a long way to keeping our prices low and paying our staff a fair wage.
